Hughes Receives Major Endorsements

Paula Hughes received the endorsements of both the News-Sentinel and Journal Gazette.

Both editorial boards rightfully point to Hughes focus on debt reduction, her accomplishments on Allen County Council, and her ability to give Fort Wayne voters a clear choice in November as reasons for Republican primary voters to support Paula Hughes on May 3rd.

On Friday, the News-Sentinel said the Hughes campaign message has been “the clearest and most focused.” Their editorial board went on to say Paula Hughes work on County Council to fix the county finances “justifies her slogan, ‘a proven conservative leader’.”

On Sunday, the Journal Gazette agreed that Hughes should be nominated for her service on County Council. Specifically, in regards to the county government transformation they said, “she played a leading role in making the improvements.” Looking to what is required to be a successful mayor, the Journal Gazette said, “Hughes, more than the other candidates, has the strongest potential to perform well in all of the aspects of the mayor’s job.”

“It’s humbling that my hard work on County Council and on the campaign trail has been noticed by those who cover the race for the citizens of Fort Wayne,” Hughes said. “I am glad to have the News-Sentinel and Journal Gazette join the growing chorus that say I would be the best Republican standard-bearer in the fall.”

The Fort Wayne’s daily newspapers join Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries, Allen County Right to Life PAC, and the Northeast Council of Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana in supporting Paula Hughes for Mayor.
